... about me ...
(I’ll try to introduce myselve in English and I would ask for Your indulgence, if I will not succeed so well.)
I am Anja Kiehnle-Sacher and I live in Freiburg im Breisgau. The city wich one also calls „The Pearl of South Baden“.
Our region is also known as the „Black Forest“. No wonder, that the bears have broken loose here!
In my portrait, wich I had in the ePaper „Kuscheltiernews“ in August 2012, I have already told a little bit, how I came for bearmaking.
This is why I will quote at this point a little from it:
„ As with many others, craftmanship also started with me already in the childhood. Still today I see the hands of my grandmother on mine when we sat together on her corner seat and, even before I came to school, she taught me crochet work and knitting.
Handicrafts accompanied me over and over again through my whole live.
At the age von 35 I became very ill and in the period afterwards once again handicrafts took on a whole new importance.
Because I sit in the first months after my long hospitalisation almost exclusively in the bed, however, could move again, I had got the crochet needle and had crocheted cushions and covers hell for leather.
Those times, I also made indian beadwork after authentic patterns.
As I was able again to sit on a sewing machine, I succumbed to the quilting, what I do until today.
At this time, I found a book with Teddy bear patterns. I discoverd a cut for a fox. It became my first „Teddy bear“. After this, I did not longer deal with it.
But 2010 I came across these book and I determined to buy me a kit, to sew a Teddy bear. That this would be one of them, which its head was made of six or eight parts, I did not anticipate at all.
Nevertheless, I had well managed him, and so he still sit in the class cabinet.
2011 I decided to take part in the TED worldwide 2012.
I worked out my Teddy bear girl „Greta“ and sent the registration.
„Greta“ was nominated and she really won the first place!
My joy was so great, that, since this day, I can’t do without my Teddy bears any more.“
My Teddy bears give me not only joy, but a lot of force too. The whole path of development, from the original idea to the design and the craft elaboration up to the finished Teddy bear, than sitting in front of me, become alive in a way, loking at me and waiting to get his name, just makes me happy.
And if ever one or another of my Teddy bears should bring a little joy and a smile to somebody, somewhere in the world, these would be the best I could achieved by him.
